Interlibrary Loan (ILL): Borrowing from Other Libraries

Interlibrary loan (ILL) service is available for SUA students and employees to obtain materials that are not available in the Ikeda Library.

Ikeda Library does not charge patrons for interlibrary loans. However, the lending library usually charges SUA up to $20 per item, so please be selective when making requests.

Before making a request, search the library catalog and e-Journals to make sure that the item is not available in Ikeda Library.

Use the online forms below to place an ILL request or extend the due date. Please fill out all the fields in the form to ensure that the correct item is ordered.

Renew ILL items
Renewals on ILL material are at the discretion of the lending institution. Renewal requests must be submitted at least 3 days prior to the due date.

Loan period is set by the lending institution. The norm is 4 weeks. Audio visual materials, reference books, rare books, and new books may be difficult or impossible to obtain. Many libraries do not loan them.

ILL items are subject to recall from the lending institution any time. Upon request, they must be returned immediately. ILL items must be returned to Circulation Desk directly. Library return boxes should not be used to prevent items from being damaged.

It usually takes 7 days to receive ILL requests on average. It may take longer if the lending library is in another state or is a very busy library.

Late fine: $1 per day per item up to replacement cost or $10 if the item is returned
Additional Fees: The patron is responsible to pay any other fines and replacement fee accessed by the lending library.

Support your public library! You can get a library card and borrow materials from the Orange County Library system.
